THE WASTE & RECYCLING RESOURCE

How We Help Our Clients

Case Study #1 – Commercial and Residential Development

A large-scale retail and residential development in Surrey, B.C. contracted Target Zero Waste Consulting to handle all waste and recycling needs for both commercial and residential properties. Target Zero Waste Consulting recommended the appropriate equipment and vendor services to manage waste and recycling needs for both commercial and residential locations. We also oversaw all aspects of delivery and installation of equipment to ensure all the equipment was installed in accordance with the vendor contracts, on time and on budget.

We continue to manage all waste and recycling vendors for this client. This service provides the development with a single point of contact for all of its waste and recycling needs, and eliminates the hassle of the client dealing with multiple vendors. We conduct site visits when necessary, manage all aspects of the vendors whether it relates to equipment, maintenance, or services, and liaise with the client.

Case Study #2 – Food and Beverage Company

Target Zero Waste Consulting has worked with an international beverage vendor as a supplier, providing the beverage company with waste and recycling equipment. However, the relationship has grown, and Target Zero Waste Consulting is now a strategic consultant for the company's disposal needs. While we still look after the company's equipment needs, we also handle all contact with waste and recycling vendors: contracts are reviewed and managed by us, and we check all invoices for accuracy and consolidate them into one, single report each month. We also conducted a full-scale audit of its waste and recycling programs in Alberta, resulting in annual savings of more than $10,000 at one location alone. We also provide our client with monthly efficiency reports on its waste and recycling programs.

Case Study #3 – Office Furnishings Dealer

A large full-service contract furniture dealer in B.C. first contracted Target Zero Waste Consulting in 2008. Since that time, Target Zero Waste Consulting has worked with the office furnishings supplier to create an electronics recycling program, and to broker the company's recyclables where possible. When analyzing the company's operations, we observed that the company had an opportunity to divert materials that were currently part of the waste stream into a recyclable commodity. New practices were put in place to divert waste into recyclables, and to provide an additional source of income when possible. As well, when we analyzed the company's operations in detail, we recommended the addition of specialized equipment to reduce hauling costs; our recommendations resulting from the initial analysis will help the company save in excess of $30,000 annually.
